When should you see an Orthodontist?

It is recommended that children see an orthodontist for evaluation by seven years old when they have a mix of primary and permanent teeth. Our specialists can determine if there will be a problem with emerging teeth early on. Early diagnosis and treatment can guide the growth of the jaws, produce a better facial appearance, and minimize the need for future complex treatment. Our clinic also treats adult orthodontic patients.

What is Orthodontics?

Successful orthodontia creates attractive, friendly, and healthy smiles. The procedures used will result in better jaw and tooth alignment leaving teeth less prone to decay, gum disease and injury. Early treatment can help prevent severe and costly problems in the future as untreated orthodontic issues can become worse with age. Additionally, misaligned teeth or an incorrect bite can cause other issues including speech impediments and problems chewing and eating.

What is an Orthodontist?

Orthodontists are licensed dentists who have advanced specialty training in the field of orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedic. Orthodontists complete a two-year or three-year residency following dental school. Orthodontics is the first dental specialty and has been a recognized dental specialty in the US since 1900.
